I was contacted by Ten Thousand Hours Films to find out about licensing and using the Joe Dolan song 'It's You, It's You it's you' written by Roberto Danova.

My Da was a keyboard player in Joe's band in the 60s/70s. It proved hard to get. The research involved phone calls to Joe's brother Ben, his old manager, old now defunked record companies, and eventually to the song writer himself.

The trail went almost cold when one morning on the way to work Roberto Danova himself rang me and said we could use it.

This is a version that is used in an excruciatingly awkward / intimate / funny scene with Writer/Actor Laoisa Sexton and actor Aidan Gillen. The song is on in the background car radio as the scene unfolds.

It was recorded in the house here. A one take thing on a phone.
I kinda thought the original was too bombastic so this is stripped back to the bare bones.
